Why CoverMy exists

Finding the right insurance in Australia is harder than it should be. Comparison websites show you prices without context. Going direct to an insurer means talking to someone whose job is to sell you their product. CoverMy was built to solve this — by putting licensed insurance brokers in your corner.

When you submit a request through CoverMy, you're not filling in an anonymous form that disappears into a database. You're being connected with qualified brokers who have the expertise and market access to find cover that genuinely fits your situation — whether that's business insurance, trade insurance, personal lines, or something more specialised like supercar coverage.

How our marketplace works

CoverMy operates as an insurance marketplace, not an insurer. We don't write policies — we connect customers with AFSL-licensed brokers who do. This distinction matters: your broker has a legal duty to act in your interest, not the insurer's. They can compare products across multiple insurers and recommend the most appropriate cover for your needs.

The platform is free to use as a customer. Brokers on the CoverMy network only pay a referral fee once a policy is bound and paid — so there's no cost to you for the introduction, and no incentive for brokers to rush you into cover that isn't right.

About our founder

CoverMy was founded by Joshua Scutts, an insurtech entrepreneur and award-winning insurance professional based in Queensland. Joshua's background spans online technology, digital marketing, and insurance broking — a combination that directly shaped CoverMy's marketplace model.

He co-founded Shielded Insurance Brokers in 2016, which grew into one of Australia's most recognised brokerages — named a Top Brokerage by Insurance Business Australia every year from 2020 through 2025. In 2020, Joshua was named Young Gun of the Year by Insurance Business Australia, and in 2021 won Broker of the Year (20+ Staff) at the same awards.

The same technology-first thinking behind Shielded's growth is embedded in CoverMy — a platform built to give every Australian access to the kind of broker expertise that was previously only available to large commercial clients.
